
Charlotte Piene (born 1985) studied composition at the Norwegian Academy of Music with Bjørn Kruse and Henrik Hellstenius between 2007 and 2011. She is currently a graduate student at the Bergen Academy of Art and Design with Brandon LaBelle as her supervisor.
Human identity, loneliness and interpersonal interaction are central themes to her compositions. Through sound, text and visual media, Piene explores the room and the energy created in the encounter between indiciduals.
Her catalog includes instrumental as well as electronic works, sound installations, performances, video, text and music for stage productions. Her music has been performed domestically as well as in Sweden, Hungary, Georgia, France and Northern Ireland.
